Jack Gregory, the CIA's top assassin, bleeds out on a Calcutta operating table and is about to die.
But an alien entity has other plans for him.
If Jack is willing to act as a human host for this dark figure, he lives. Jack takes the deal. One year later, he is internationally known as The Ripper, fixer for hire, and finds himself increasingly drawn to dire, world-shattering events. Suffering strange premonitions and compulsions, Jack has more questions than answers. What destiny does this alien mind foresee? Why has it chosen him?
From bestselling author Richard Phillips comes a globe-spanning sci-fi thriller series with a twist ... culminating in the cataclysmic events that set the stage for The Rho Agenda.
### From the Author
Two important Rho Agenda characters, the NSA special operators Jack 'The Ripper' Gregory and Janet Price, enter The Rho Agenda about a third of the way through The Second Ship and become so integral to the story that I decided to write three prequel novels that show the events that propelled them into key roles in The Rho Agenda.
What makes a hero? For Jack Gregory, it's an alien soul.
In Once Dead, the first novel in The Rho Agenda Inception trilogy, readers learn that ex-CIA assassin, Jack Gregory, revived on a Calcutta death-bed, sharing his mind with an alien entity that is coupled to mankind's ultimate destiny. One year later, plagued by terrible premonitions and compulsions, Jack is no longer the man he once was. As he fights to regain his self-control, Jack finds himself drawn to increasingly dire, world-shaping events.
What terrible destiny does this alien mind foresee? Why has it chosen him? The survival of the human race may ultimately hinge upon his finding the answers to those questions.
