What is Ed Magee to do when he loses his reporting job at the Topeka local newspaper, perhaps take up the dream of being a PI and well the die seems cast when he meets a femme fatale in a local bar in true Noir fashion. Of course this isn't a hard boiled detective yarn but a tale of modern vampire sects slowing growing and influencing politics and economics with the simple goal to make humans the subservient breed in the US and eventually the world. The twist is the woman's four legged companion who not only attaches herself to Ed but is able to communicate with him and when required rip the throat out of any threat, what more could you want from mans best friend although maybe even Cesar Millan would have trouble with Mitzi the Vampire Poodle!
This is a fun read, not to be taken seriously for the obvious reasons but there is plenty of room in the genre for laughs and giggles, romance outside of the teenage realm and a mixing of lore with which to create a world where a vampire poodle simply works:)
